Parts with complicated contours can be entered into the manufacturing and assembly process in different ways.
Depending on the fragility, geometry or surface condition parts can be presented as bulk items, on a belted conveyor, in palletized trays or in magazines. In a lot of applications it is of outmost importance to position the parts accurately for in a carrier for pick-and-place purposes. Alternatively, sorting processes such as for instance vibration bowl feeding can be added prior to the handover point.
In isolated cases, providing the part geometry allows for it, the parts can be presented randomly positioned to the handling system or robot. In this case the parts run on a flat-belt conveyor under a camera which determines the actual position and transmits it to the handling system or robot. Aber recalculation of the coordinates the part can be picked and placed in a carrier or on a support. |
